Deep sea fishing

The Mozambique coastline offers some of the most spectacular sport fishing in the world. The Indian Ocean, unspoiled and largely unexplored, is ideal for exciting fishing holidays.

With the strong North to South Mozambican current, it harbours some of the world’s most exciting Game and Bill fish. Species such as Black, Blue and Striped Marlin, Sailfish, short-bill Spearfish, Wahoo, Dorado, various Tuna species, King and Queen Mackerel, Kingfish, Barracuda and Snappers are all found here. Both recreational and specialist fishermen are increasingly attracted to Zongoene Lodge to try their hand at luring these legendary species that have made this region so famous.

The best months for Black Marlin are between October and the end of January. Blue and Striped Marlin are found from September to January, while the main Sailfish season runs from the beginning of June until the end of September. From December to February anglers may see one of the most interesting creatures, the Whale Shark, the largest fish in the world, which can reach lengths of up to 14 meters and weigh up to 15 tons.

Deep sea fishing trips can be booked at the lodge reception. Trips lasts approximately four hours and include bait and tackle for each angler. Meal packs and drinks for the trip can be ordered from the boat captain or at the lodge reception.
