Zongoene Lodge Co-ordinates E 33˚ 30’51’’ S 25˚ 11’21’’

The Lodge is situated in a pristine but remote area of the country and as a result there is no power grid. We therefore have a generator that supplies our power needs. The generators run from approximately 06H00 to midnight, but may also be down from time to time during the day. Please check with management

Rules of the Road

This is a basic guideline for tourists and travellers to Mozambique and please understand that the laws and tariffs are subject to change at any time by the Mozambique authorities
:: When entering Moçambique you are required by law to wear a seatbelt at all times. Should you be caught not wearing a seatbelt you will be fined
:: All South African vehicles must have a ZA sticker on them as well as a yellow triangle on a blue background displayed on them
:: All trailers must have reflective tape on the side and back
:: When travelling through towns ensure that you adhere to the speed limit. The Moçambique speed law for travelling in populated areas is 60 km/h, however if you have a trailer the law states 50km/h.Radar is the main trapping device used and spot fines are payable
:: Caution where there is a solid white line on the road as officials will fine tourists when one or two wheels, especially on wide trailers go over the middle line.
:: According to Mozambique law the traffic officer must specify the traffic violation and quote the relevant article from the road ordinance and   indicate the monetary value of the fine
:: Visitors to Mozambique are advised to travel on the roads provided and when travelling in the areas to resorts you are asked to respect the land dwellers plantations and home surroundings. Many locals plant their crops next to the roads.  Four wheelers especially are asked to show respect for the locals. Do not speed in the areas where there are locals, as many small children tend to run into the road when vehicles approach with fright.
:: When stopping for coconuts, you can be charged for them as many locals own certain coconut trees and this is their income in that the coconuts are food and then later taken to factories to be made into oil.Tourists are asked not to give the children sweets on the side of the road as this encourages begging and possible stealing

Health

There is Malaria in Moçambique – so it is recommended that precautions be taken.

:: Compulsory vaccinations: Yellow Fever (if coming from an endemic country)
:: Recommended Vaccinations: Typhoid, Hepatitis A, Tetanus & Meningitis
